US President Donald Trump has signed an order instructing the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) to work directly with coal-fired power plants in energy purchases.
Elchi.az reports that at a ceremony at the White House, President Trump explained that they are increasing coal production in the country and that this is important for the economy.
Tрамп, who was awarded by coal producers for his contribution to production, said he was proud of it and that coal has a very important place in the American economy.
The US President said: “Therefore, I will sign an order instructing the Department of Defense to work directly with coal-fired power plants in new electricity purchase agreements and to provide electricity more reliably. We will now buy a lot of coal through the military, and it will be cheaper and more efficient.”
Defending the US withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement on very legitimate grounds, Trump said that “(Joe) Biden and the radical left wanted to give up coal. I ended the war on coal on the first day of this administration. We withdrew from the unfair and unilateral Paris Climate Agreement. We were paying $1 trillion, which no one had to pay 10 cents.” He explained that in the first year of his term, he prevented the closure of 74 coal-fired power plants and will issue licenses to companies to open new coal-fired power plants. Trump, who later took a picture with the miners and received his award, left the room without answering journalists’ questions about his closed-door meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
