Mysterious deaths in Bulgaria baffle police

The chain of events in a mountainous region of western Bulgaria has resulted in the discovery of six bodies, raising suspicions of murder and suicide. Authorities announced the discovery of the bodies of three people, one of whom was 15 years old, in a parked minibus in a remote part of the Balkan Mountains (Stara Planina).
Elchi.az reports that investigators say these deaths are related to three other bodies found six days earlier near a burned-out hut.
Security camera footage shows the two groups saying goodbye to each other in the hut, with the three people remaining on the site later burning the hut. Bulgarian Deputy Chief Prosecutor Borislav Sarafov said that the case has more shocking details than the cult series “Twin Peaks”.

“An unprecedented crime”
As prosecutors consider the possibility of murder-suicide or mass suicide, the incident has caused a great stir in the country and has been critical of the investigation. The national police chief described the incident as an unprecedented crime in the country. It is reported that the first three victims (men aged 45, 49 and 51) were found near a burned-out hut on February 2. The Sofia Appeals Prosecutor’s Office reported that they had been shot and there were no signs of struggle or trauma at the scene. Forensic experts determined that the shots were fired at close range. Two pistols and a rifle were found near the Petrohan Pass, about an hour from Sofia.
