Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has described the seizure of the parliament rostrum by opposition deputies on Wednesday to prevent the new Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek from taking the oath as lawlessness.
Elchi.az reports that Erdogan said this at a meeting with the heads of regional organizations of the ruling Justice and Development Party in Ankara. The meeting was broadcast by TRT Haber TV channel.
“In order to prevent our ministers from taking the oath, they (the opposition) resorted to various illegal methods, including seizing the people’s rostrum. I condemn and reject the opposition’s attacks, which undermine confidence in political institutions, damage the reputation of the parliament, and insult our people,” he said.
