90 billion euro loan to Ukraine APPROVED

The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, has confirmed the allocation of a 90 billion euro loan to Ukraine.

Elchi.az reports that, according to information published on the European Parliament’s website, Kyiv will receive 30 billion euros in macro-financial assistance or state budget support through the EU’s Ukraine Mechanism.

60 billion euros will be allocated to support the country’s defense capabilities and purchase military equipment.

458 deputies voted in favor of granting a loan to Ukraine. 140 people voted against, and 44 abstained.

The European Parliament’s approval removes the last obstacle to Ukraine receiving the first tranche of funding.

The European Parliament has clarified that when purchasing weapons, Ukraine should give preference to local manufacturers, suppliers in the EU, the European Economic Area, and the European Free Trade Association.

“If certain defense materials are not immediately available in those countries for urgent delivery to Ukraine, a number of targeted restrictions will be imposed on purchases from other countries,” the European Parliament noted.
