Venezuela’s Minister of Communication, Miguel Angel Perez, has denied media reports that crude oil is being sold to Israel.
Elchi.az reports that Perez reacted to the news in some media outlets alleging that crude oil was being sold to Israel in a post on his Telegram account.
Perez denied the allegations by sharing a photo with Bloomberg’s red “fake” label.
Perez stated that the picture in question was from the sale of crude oil to the Israeli company Bazan Group in 2009.
Bloomberg claimed that the crude oil shipment was made to Israel’s Bazan Group, and that this was the first oil sale from Venezuela to Israel, which cut off diplomatic relations in 2009.
After Israel’s “Operation Cast Lead” attacks on Gaza in 2008-2009, then-President Hugo Chavez strongly condemned Israel and decided to cut off diplomatic relations with the country.
