US National Guard troops leave Los Angeles, Chicago and Portland

The US administration has withdrawn National Guard troops from Los Angeles, California, Chicago, Illinois, and Portland, Oregon, where they were deployed to ensure security.

Elchi.az reports that this was reported by The Washington Post.

It was noted that the withdrawal of the National Guard units was quietly completed at the end of last month without any public announcement by the White House or the Pentagon.

The newspaper called the withdrawal of the National Guard forces a “remarkable shift” in the position of the current administration leader Donald Trump and Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth. They insisted on the need to deploy troops to American cities to combat uncontrolled crime and enforce immigration laws.

The publication emphasized that approximately 2,500 National Guard soldiers are still patrolling the streets of Washington. Trump announced plans to withdraw the National Guard from Chicago, Los Angeles, and Portland in early January, but did not specify a specific deadline for the decision to be implemented. Representatives of the opposition Democratic Party are currently in power in these cities.
