Norway Prepares for Russia’s “Invasion”

Commander-in-Chief Kristoffersen: Norway is preparing for Russia’s invasion scenario.
Elchi.az reports that the Commander-in-Chief of the Norwegian Armed Forces, Eirik Kristoffersen, stated that he does not rule out a Russian invasion, and therefore Oslo is preparing for such a scenario. This was reported by The Guardian newspaper.
He believes that Russia may attack Norway to protect nuclear facilities in the north.
“We do not rule out Russia seizing territory as part of its plan to protect its nuclear potential, because this is its only nuclear potential and actually threatens the US,” Kristoffersen said.
The military official said that a significant part of Russia’s nuclear arsenal is located on the Kola Peninsula near the border with Norway. He noted that this could be decisive if a direct clash occurs between Moscow and NATO.
“We do not rule out this option, because Russia can still do this to protect its nuclear capabilities, its second strike capabilities. This is the scenario we are preparing for in the north,” said the Commander-in-Chief of the Norwegian Armed Forces.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly emphasized that Russia has no intention of attacking anyone. The Russian leader reiterated this at a meeting with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico last year. According to Putin, politicians who talk about Russia attacking a Western country are “horror movie experts.” The President noted the current hysteria boiling over with the idea that Russia will attack Europe. He added that for intelligent people, such statements are clearly provocative or “completely incompetent.”
Earlier, Putin said he was ready to prove the absence of plans to attack Europe “by all necessary means.”
