“Qarabag” goalkeeper Mateusz Koxalski wanted to leave the team during this winter transfer window.
Elchi.az reports with reference to Qol.az that the Polish goalkeeper himself stated this in an interview with przegladsportowy.onet.pl of his country. According to him, the club’s management did not allow this transfer. That club was Polish “Vidzew”. The 25-year-old football player confirmed that there was such an offer. He even agreed to Vidzew’s offer himself. He stated that he made this unexpected decision for personal reasons:
– Everything is fine in Baku in terms of sports. I feel like I’m developing and playing in the Champions League. This is an ideal place to show yourself. But there is one thing that no one knows, because I have not talked about it myself. After training or a game, I come home and stay alone. Away from my loved ones. Football is very important to me. That’s clear. But I have always put my family and loved ones first and will continue to do so. My fiancé is with me more often now. But when she returns to Poland (studying extramurally), it is difficult for me to be alone. I don’t want it to seem like I’m sacrificing myself. I hope people will understand this. I am a family man and this separation seriously affects my psychological state. That’s why I accepted Vidzew’s offer.
– Were you ready to give up the Champions League to play in Ekstraklasa?
– Yes, for my inner peace. But in the end, the transfer did not happen. Because the management of “Qarabag” did not agree. It turned out that the reserve goalkeeper was injured and it could be a problem to register a new one. And I am so important to the team that “Qarabag” rejected Vidzew’s offer. I understand this well and I didn’t dwell on this issue anymore. “Vidzew” transferred another goalkeeper and the matter was closed.
But I can also deny another rumor that is spreading about me. I have not received any offers from Borussia Dortmund. I have read such news. I think that 90 percent of the transfer news about me in recent weeks was false.
– What are your goals for 2026?
– I want to achieve as much success as possible with “Qarabag” in the Champions League. I will work for the next step in my career. I would also like to make my debut in the Polish national team.
