French President Emmanuel Macron said in an interview with several publications that Europe is facing a geopolitical and geo-economic emergency.
Elchi.az reports that in an interview with The Economist, he noted that if the European Union (EU) does not begin to invest more actively in the economy by removing obstacles that hinder faster development, then American technology and Chinese imports will push the countries of the continent aside.
“If we do nothing, Europe will be ‘swept away’ in five years.”
Macron also admitted that by abandoning energy supplies from Russia, Europe has become dependent on the United States, with its companies providing approximately 60 percent of the LNG purchased by countries.
