South African businessman Elon Musk has launched a new attack against the Spanish government, targeting Deputy Prime Minister Yolanda Dias and Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. Musk claimed that Dias “hates the Spanish people” and that the Sánchez government is “destroying” its own country. Musk’s statement came immediately after Yolanda Dias announced that technology giants would be taxed.
Elchi.az reports that Musk responded to Dias’ statements during her visit to New York. In that speech, Dias called for US large technology companies to be “taxed, and the terms of use and labor rules to be regulated,” and accused “excessively wealthy elites” close to Trump of “not paying taxes” in Spain.
In response to a video reflecting the views of Deputy Prime Minister Dias, Musk claimed that she “hates the Spanish people.”
Musk generally used the phrase “They are destroying Spain” referring to the Spanish government.
Recently, Elon Musk has often clashed with left-wing governments, especially in Europe, on issues of digital regulation, freedom of expression, and taxes.
Yolanda Dias, in turn, characterizes Musk and similar figures as a “privileged and tax-evading minority.”
