The president of the Spanish club Barcelona, Juan Laporta, has resigned from his post.
Elchi.az reports that this decision is due to his candidacy in the new presidential elections to be held next month.
According to the club’s official statement, Laporta took this step to participate in the elections scheduled for March 15, in accordance with the requirements of the statute. Along with him, vice-presidents Yelena Fort, Antonio Escudero and 7 more members of the board of directors have resigned in order to participate in the election process.
Until the new leadership is formed, the club will be temporarily managed by Rafael Yuste during the transition period. The term of office of the board of directors will expire on June 30.
