The chairman of the Party of Justice, Law, and Democracy (AHD), Member of Parliament Gudrat Hasanguliyev, answered questions from the party’s press service.

-Gudrat bey, contrary to expectations, no agreement was reached between Ukraine and Russia again. What is the reason?
-Although the parties are tired of the war, both sides want the war to end on more favorable terms for themselves. Also, the parties are not completely exhausted and intend to continue the war for a while with certain hopes. Putin relies on Trump and China, his agents in the European Union, and Ukraine relies on honest people in the European Union. But as human and military resources dwindle, the possibilities of continuing the war will decrease, and it will be easier to achieve peace at the expense of Ukraine’s concessions. Since Ukraine and its allies in Europe are the weaker side in the war, Ukraine will eventually be forced to make major concessions. Since there is no brave and strong leader in the European Union who can unite the European peoples and states and lead them, Ukraine will have to accept territorial losses. But everything is in God’s hands. A geopolitical miracle that is difficult to predict today may also happen.
-Iran-US talks were also unsuccessful. Will the US attack Iran?
-Trump, who wants to end the war in Ukraine by paying compliments to the Russian president, understands that the US’s global power image has been shattered. The kidnapping of the Venezuelan president with the support of the local government also failed to change international public opinion regarding the US. Trump is hesitant about large-scale military operations against Iran. When Trump addressed the protesters in Iran and said, “Seize government bodies, I’m coming,” he apparently believed that a revolution would take place in Iran before he arrived. Now he also has responsibility for the blood spilled. The issue of responsibility for the blood already spilled and reforms in Iran are no longer topics of discussion. Currently, the enrichment of nuclear and the limitation of the missile program are being discussed. Trump wants to close the issue by Iran making certain concessions in this direction. He thinks that in this way he can calm Israel and the Jewish lobby around it and present it to his people as a great victory. Iran sees the US’s hesitation and has no intention of retreating. The government in Iran also seems to need a war to associate the problems they cannot solve with the war. Because it is impossible to revive the economy without major reforms, without giving up privileges, without an effective fight against corruption, and without improving public administration.
-Perhaps the US is avoiding war after seeing Russia’s situation in Ukraine?
-In Ukraine, the people give serious support to the army and the President. Even if they are without light and heat in minus 16 degrees frost, they still defend the government and fight for their independence. In Iran, on the other hand, the people, especially after the recent massacre, are waiting for help from outside. There is no unity between the people and the government. The people want change. Therefore, if there are strong attacks by the US and Israel, the regime in Iran will not have serious resistance capabilities. China and Russia may be advising Trump to be “restrained”. Despite Trump’s hesitation, the possibility of war remains very high. Trump understands that he needs a victory to win the midterm elections and change the agenda at home.
