US President Donald Trump announced on his social media account that he will meet with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi at the White House on March 19.

US President Donald Trump said in a statement on his social media account: “Great Japan will hold very important legislative elections on Sunday, February 8, 2026. The results of these elections are very important for the future of Japan. Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has already proven to be a strong, influential and wise leader who truly loves her country. I look forward to meeting with Prime Minister Takaichi at the White House on March 19.”
During his visit to Japan, Trump expressed his admiration for Prime Minister Takaichi, saying: “In addition to national security, the US and Japan have worked closely to create a very important trade agreement that will greatly benefit both countries. Prime Minister Takaichi is a person who deserves great praise for the work she and her coalition have done, and therefore, as President of the United States, it is an honor for me to give her and her esteemed coalition the full and unwavering support of the values she represents. She will not disappoint the people of Japan. I wish her success in the very important vote to be held on Sunday.”
