Canada and Ukraine have agreed on the transfer of AIM air defense missiles to Kyiv.
Elchi.az reports that this was stated on the website of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense in a statement on the results of negotiations between the heads of the relevant departments of the two countries — Mykhailo Fedorov and David McGuinty.
“Canada will transfer AIM missiles to Ukraine to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense and combat cruise missiles. The weapons are already in the process of being transferred to Ukraine,” the Ukrainian agency quoted the Canadian minister as saying.
The ministry also said that an agreement on the production of unmanned aerial vehicles and cooperation in the training of Ukrainian soldiers were also discussed during the meeting. The meeting was held in video conference format.
Since the start of Russia’s special military operation, Kyiv’s Western allies have repeatedly increased arms supplies to Ukraine and continue to allocate new aid packages. At the same time, Kyiv constantly demands an increase in the volume of military aid. Moscow has repeatedly stressed that the West’s sending weapons to Kyiv and helping to train Ukrainian soldiers only prolongs the conflict and does not change the situation on the battlefield.
