11 organ transplants from deceased donors have been performed in Azerbaijan in the last year.
Elchi.az reports that this was stated by Mirjalal Kazimi, a doctor in the Department of Surgery and Organ Transplantation of the Central Customs Hospital, on the live broadcast of “DOST TV”.
According to him, 1,500 organ transplant operations have been performed to date:
“11 of them are transplants of organs taken from deceased donors.”
It should be reminded that on February 24, 2025, the first organ transplant from a deceased donor was performed in Azerbaijan. On October 31, 2025, for the first time in the Caucasus region, a deceased donor’s heart was transplanted in Azerbaijan.
