Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared official figures for the first time regarding the number of Ukrainian soldiers killed on the front lines in the fourth year of the war.
Elchi.az reports that Zelenskyy, speaking to France 2 television, stated that the number of professional and conscript soldiers killed on the battlefield was 55,000.
While peace talks between the US, Ukraine, and Russian delegations continue in Abu Dhabi, harsh statements continue to come from the Kremlin regarding the continuation of the war. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized that Russian troops will continue to fight until Kyiv makes “the right decisions.”
Moscow’s Pressure on Donetsk
Even as negotiations continue, Moscow is demanding that Ukraine withdraw its troops from fortified cities in the Donetsk region, considered one of Ukraine’s strongest defense lines. This demand from Russia effectively means that Ukraine would abandon these strategically important territories.
Donetsk Governor Vadim Filashkin announced shortly before the start of negotiations that Russian forces attacked a crowded market in eastern Ukraine with cluster bombs. As a result of the attack, at least seven civilians were killed and 15 were injured.
Negotiations in Abu Dhabi
According to some reports, the negotiations were constructive, but sharp disagreements between the parties persist. In this process, where Moscow is increasing pressure to force Kyiv to compromise, international observers are following the concrete steps that will emerge from the contacts in Abu Dhabi.
