Lavrov: Russia is concerned about how the situation around Iran is developing.
Elchi.az reports that Russia is concerned about how the current escalating situation in the Middle East, especially around Iran, is developing. Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said this in an interview with RT.
The diplomat recalled that Iran is Russia’s close partner and neighbor.
“And of course, we are concerned about how events are currently unfolding,” Lavrov said in response to a question about escalating relations between the US and Iran.
On January 28, US President Donald Trump announced that the US Navy was sending a large force to the Middle East under the leadership of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier. He warned Tehran about possible use of force if the Iranian government refuses to reach an agreement. However, the American leader did not disclose the details of this possible agreement with the Islamic Republic. At the same time, American officials say they have made three demands to the Iranians: a definitive end to uranium enrichment and disposal of reserves, a limit on the number of ballistic missiles, and an end to all support for proxy groups in the Middle East.
