Iran reacts to German Chancellor Merz’s statement

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi reacted to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s statement that “we are ready to increase pressure on Iran.”
Elchi.az reports that Araqchi, who shared a post on the social media platform of the US-based Company X, criticized Merz’s political position against Iran.
Araqchi said that Germany, which once advanced Europe, is now causing Europe’s decline: “Last year, in September, at Merz’s insistence, E3 ended its role in nuclear negotiations after the restoration of UN sanctions against Iran in New York. Now Merz is almost begging to be readmitted to the same negotiations.”
Araqchi, touching on Merz’s great enthusiasm for the Israeli attacks in June 2025, which caused the death of approximately 1,000 Iranians, recalled Merz’s open statements that Iran would collapse in a matter of weeks. Erakchi noted:
“Unfortunately, we Iranians have encountered many other examples of Merz’s political naivety and disturbing character.”
