6.1 Magnitude Earthquake Occurs in “Ring of Fire”

A 6.1 magnitude earthquake has been recorded off the coast of New Zealand. The earthquake occurred in the Pacific Ocean, in the region called the “Ring of Fire”, which includes New Zealand and the Solomon Islands.

Elchi.az reports, citing the US Geological Survey (USGS), that the epicenter of the earthquake was the Kermadec Islands, located north of New Zealand.

According to initial reports, no casualties or material damage were recorded as a result of the 6.1 magnitude earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 184.2 kilometers.

No tsunami warning was issued after the earthquake.

It should be noted that countries located on the seismic fault line called the “Ring of Fire”, which is located in the Pacific Ocean and includes New Zealand and the Solomon Islands, often face earthquakes as well as volcanic eruptions.
