Negotiations between the US and Iran scheduled for this week are still in effect despite the incident involving the downed Iranian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
Elchi.az reports that White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt stated this in an interview with Fox News.
“Special Envoy Steve Witkoff is preparing to hold talks with the Iranians this week. Currently, the meeting is still scheduled as planned,” Levitt said.
She also noted that US President Donald Trump has a number of options regarding Iran, including the option of using military force.
Earlier, the Axios portal reported that a meeting between US President’s Special Envoy for Peace Missions Stephen Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi is expected in Istanbul on February 6.
