The II International “Winter Tale” Music Festival starts in Gabala on February 5.
Elchi.az reports that the festival is organized by the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli, with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and “Gilan”.
The Gabala Music Festival, which has been held in the summer season since 2009, is being organized for the second year in winter.
A colorful program will be presented to the audience at the Heydar Aliyev Congress Center in Gabala during the 4 days of the festival. There will be concerts for various musical tastes: vocal, chamber instrumental music evenings, solo performances, flamenco-jazz, Azerbaijani-Spanish, Baku-Naples music nights will color the cold winter season.
The first day of “Winter Tale” will be dedicated to the musical heritage of the great composer Gara Garayev. People’s Artists Farhad Badalbeyli and Murad Adigozalzade, Azerbaijan State String Quartet will perform on the stage.
The solemn opening of the festival will take place on February 6. Performers: Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater Symphony Orchestra conducted by Honored Artist Ayyub Guliyev, Honored Artist Afag Abbasova (soprano), Aytaj Shikhaliyeva (mezzo-soprano), Azer Zade (tenor), Mahir Taghizade (baritone). On the same night, a concert program consisting of favorite works by Giacomo Puccini, Gioachino Rossini, Giuseppe Verdi, Franz Lehar, Musa Mirzayev and other Azerbaijani and world composers will be presented.
The Gabala festival can be considered not only a music holiday, but also an important contribution to intercultural dialogue. This time’s festival is no exception in this sense. Thus, on February 7, the chamber music evening “Baku-Naples: Music Bridge”, which embodies the friendship between Azerbaijan and Italy, will be held in Gabala. Viewers will listen to the works of Azerbaijani and Italian composers.
The closing of the “Winter Tale” International Music Festival will take place on February 8. Performers and dancers invited from Spain will perform on the stage at the flamenco-jazz music night “Azerbaijan-Spain: two countries, one music”.
Thus, for 4 days, Gabala will once again give music lovers an unforgettable “Winter Tale”.
