The situation remains unstable in Iran: 139 foreigners arrested in protests

139 foreigners have been arrested for participating in anti-regime protests in Iran.
Elchi.az reports that investigations are continuing into those who participated in demonstrations that began on December 28 last year in response to high living costs and turned into anti-government protests. Iranian police said that 139 foreign citizens have been arrested for participating in anti-government protests in Yazd province.
Yazd Police Chief Ahmad Negahban told Tasnim News Agency, known for its close ties to the Revolutionary Guards Corps, that “These individuals played an active role in organizing, inciting and managing the riots; in some cases, they were also in contact with networks abroad.” Negahban did not provide details about the nationalities of those arrested. Iranian Judiciary Spokesman Asghar Jahangir said in a statement today that “Those who support and play a role in this US sabotage will never be forgiven.” Iranian officials said yesterday that four foreign nationals had been arrested on charges of involvement in violence in Tehran.
