A long-time employee of the Polish Ministry of Defense was reportedly arrested this morning on suspicion of “spying for Russian intelligence.”
Elchi.az reports that a statement posted on the social media platform of the US-based company X, affiliated with the Ministry of Defense, states: “This morning, a long-time employee was detained at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense. The suspect is accused of cooperating with a foreign intelligence service.”
The statement noted that the investigation was conducted by the Military Counterintelligence Service and that court proceedings are ongoing.
According to the Polish news site Onet, the suspect, described as a mid-level official in the Ministry’s Defense Strategy and Planning Department, is suspected of spying for Russian intelligence.
A source speaking to Onet said, “The services have been monitoring this person’s activities for months. His actions have been carefully documented and analyzed. Therefore, the evidence gathered against him is quite strong.”
