A Boeing RC-135W Rivet Joint strategic reconnaissance aircraft of the British Royal Air Force and a Boeing P-8A Poseidon anti-submarine reconnaissance aircraft of the US Navy are operating in the Black Sea airspace.

The British reconnaissance aircraft took off from Waddington Air Force Base and, after flying over the Netherlands, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania, entered the Black Sea airspace and passed near the Crimean Peninsula.
The US anti-submarine reconnaissance aircraft took off from Sigonella Air Base in Sicily and flew over Greece, Bulgaria and Romania. It then entered the Black Sea airspace and is conducting a patrol operation towards Novorossiysk.
As of 16:10, both aircraft are still over the Black Sea.
