A street paved with gold is planned to be built in Dubai as part of a new jewelry district.

The gold zone will be a specially created area for Dubai’s jewelry industry and aims to attract tourists as well as buyers, Ithra Dubai development company said. Detailed information will be disclosed in stages.
Ahmed Al-Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festival and Retail Trade Administration, said:
“Gold is closely connected to Dubai’s cultural and commercial life, symbolizing our heritage, prosperity and sustainable entrepreneurial spirit. Through this symbolic space, we both respect our heritage and rethink it for a new era defined by creativity and sustainable development.”
According to local media, more than 1,000 shops selling gold, jewelry, perfumes and cosmetics and 6 new hotels will operate in this area. The street will be located near the Gold Market, one of Dubai’s oldest traditional markets.
The construction cost of the “Golden Street” has not yet been announced.
