PSG (France) and Newcastle (England) are approximately equal in strength.
Elchi.az reports that this was said by Gurban Gurbanov, head coach of Qarabag, while evaluating the draw of the play-off stage of the UEFA Champions League.
The experienced specialist shared his thoughts on Newcastle, who will face Qarabag, in a statement to the club’s press service:
“I wish the draw to be beneficial and successful for our team and fans. After each stage, we face more serious opponents. Newcastle drew 1:1 with PSG in the last round of the League stage. Therefore, we can say that the strengths of both teams are approximately the same. Playing against a Premier League club always requires extra strength. Newcastle is a very serious opponent. We will try to show a good game and prepare well. Because the English Premier League is the strongest championship in the world. There is not much difference between the teams here. Every team can beat each other. It is possible to see 3-4 goals in every match.
We will try to prepare well for the match and get to know the opponent better. But Newcastle is not weaker than any of the other opponents in this stage, it has its own unique style of play and is a very fast-paced team.”
It should be noted that the team led by Gurban Gurbanov will play its first match against Newcastle at home and the return match away. The first matches of the play-off stage will be held on February 17-18, and the return matches will be held on February 24-25.
