I consider it expedient to connect Armenia’s energy system with the energy system of Azerbaijan and Turkey.
Elchi.az reports that this was stated by the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan.
According to him, the creation of a single energy space will turn the region into a strong exporter to international markets:
“This will also form the basis of a new security architecture. Armenia and Azerbaijan currently have excess energy capacity. This opens the way for mutually beneficial cooperation. Armenia is interested in using Azerbaijani infrastructure to access wider export markets, and Azerbaijan will be able to transit electricity through Armenia to Nakhchivan and other destinations. In addition to direct trade, the project will provide the republic with a stable income from transit fees, which will replenish both the state budget and the accounts of private companies.”
