Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has summoned the German Ambassador to Iran, Axel Dittmann, in connection with statements made by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz criticizing the government and armed forces of the Islamic Republic.
Elchi.az reports with reference to the “Mehr” agency that during a meeting between Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister and Director General for Western Europe Alireza Yousefi, a strong protest was expressed to the chancellor against the interventionist and irresponsible statements of German officials.
Yusefi emphasized the role of the IRGC in the fight against terrorism, protecting Iran’s security and national sovereignty, saying that attempts to blacklist part of the armed forces are a clear violation of international law and an encroachment on the country’s sovereignty, and noted that this would cause Tehran’s response.
