At the meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) chaired by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, political, military, economic and social events that occurred in 2025 and are important for national security were evaluated.
Elchi.az reports that the meeting discussed the work to be done in 2026, as well as other issues.
At the meeting, information was presented on the activities carried out both inside and outside the country against the PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETÖ and ISIS terrorist organizations, as well as the latest international processes.
NSC members emphasized that steps aimed at strengthening Turkey’s and the region’s security, stability and prosperity will be continued.
At the meeting, it was noted that strong support will be given to efforts to ensure the sovereignty, territorial integrity, unitary structure and political unity of Syria, and that efforts to increase the peace, security and prosperity of the Syrian people will be continued.
It is reported that Turkey is ready to take responsibility for the events in Gaza:
“The latest situation in Gaza and the ceasefire were discussed. It was emphasized that Turkey, as a founding member of the international structures established to resolve the Gaza problem, will continue its efforts to deliver comprehensive humanitarian aid to the region, and that Turkey is ready, together with its partners, to take full responsibility for the reconstruction of Gaza and the establishment of lasting peace.”
At the meeting, it was also stated that Turkey will continue to fulfill its fraternal duty in the fight of the Somali people against terrorist organizations.
The meeting also discussed in detail the events in Iran, and it was emphasized that the stability and security of Iran are of great importance for the security of our region.
In addition, the current situation in the Russia-Ukraine war was assessed.
