His logical thinking ability, consistent hard work and big goals, which were formed from an early age, distinguish him from his peers. The medals he won, his future plans and the advice he gave to young students are reflected in this interview. Xeberle.com presents the interview:
– Let’s get to know you better.
I am Humbatli Tunar Alkhan oglu. I was born in 2018 in the city of Sumgayit. Currently, I am studying at secondary school No. 3 named after our martyr Matlab Guliyev in Sumgayit.
– When and how did your interest in mathematics and logic arise?
My interest in mathematics and logic developed from an early age. The motivation given by my teacher played a big role in strengthening this interest. Logical thinking is both interesting and comfortable for me.
– What is the first medal you won and how did you feel at that moment?
I won my first medal in the 1st grade by scoring 700 points in the trial exam. It was a gold medal. I wasn’t nervous when I went to the exam, I was very comfortable and this comfort had a positive effect on my result.
– How was participating in the International IMC and TIMO Olympiads different for you?
My participation in these Olympiads was thanks to the motivation given by my teacher. There, I answered not only the mathematical-logical questions of my own class, but also those at the level of the 3rd, 4th, and even 5th grades. Because my responsibility increased, I was very excited, and for this reason, I won a bronze medal. My next goal is a gold medal.
– Which topic is the most difficult for you when preparing for the Olympiads?
Currently, there is no specific topic that I have difficulty with. Because learning is interesting and easy for me.
– In your opinion, is talent more important for success, or hard work?
In my opinion, both are important. When talent is combined with hard work, success becomes inevitable.
– What does studying and living in Sumgayit give you?
I love living and studying in Sumgayit, but I have to go to Baku because some Olympiads and trials are not held here. This makes me a little sad.
– What opportunities would you like to see increased for young students in Sumgayit?
I would like to see lyceums operating from the 2nd grade, more frequent organization of interesting logic games and inter-school chess competitions. My interest in logic has also created a great love for chess in me, and I am currently engaged in chess.
– Do you feel that you represent the name of Sumgayit in the international arena with the medals you have won?
Yes, I feel it and I try to do my best to represent the name of Sumgayit properly.
– How can your success motivate schoolchildren?
I think everyone should motivate themselves and set clear goals.
– Which place in Sumgayit inspires you the most?
The place where old grandfathers sit and play chess together inspires me a lot.
– What profession do you want to choose in the future and why?
I want to be a prosecutor in the future. I want to benefit society as an educated and fair person.
– What does it mean to you to represent Azerbaijan and Sumgayit at the international level?
This gives me great pride.
– What advice would you give to students who want to achieve success like you?
Let them set goals and engage in logic as much as possible. When logic is strong, there is no need to memorize the rules.
– Where do you see yourself in 5–10 years?
In 5 years, I see myself as someone who has won at least 50 gold medals.
In 10 years, as a student studying at the university I want. Since I participated in international Olympiads, I think that my chances of getting accepted to foreign universities in the future are high.
– What would you like to say at the end?
Thank you for listening to and appreciating my thoughts. This motivates me even more.
