The habit of watching video and audio materials in accelerated mode can negatively affect the brain and cause forgetfulness.
Elchi.az reports that Tales Alberto, a psychiatrist at the Samaritano Paulista Hospital in Brazil, warned about this in an interview with the Metropoles publication.
According to the expert, many people who use accelerated mode have the illusion that they are saving time. However, the constant rapid perception of information causes the brain to become accustomed to an excessive pace and unable to cope with ordinary life situations. As a result, even simple communication or waiting for events to unfold can cause discomfort.
“Even ordinary actions such as listening to the person in front of you can be irritating. In addition, tolerance for boredom and the ability to deeply analyze information are reduced,” the doctor explained.
Alberto noted that people who frequently use accelerated mode may experience difficulty concentrating, anxiety, and forgetfulness. This is because the brain receives more information than it can process and cannot effectively process ordinary stimuli.
The expert recommends limiting the use of accelerated viewing and returning to normal speed to maintain attention, memory, and emotional comfort. The doctor also advises people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) not to change the initial speed of audio and videos – this habit can further aggravate attention problems.
