US President Donald Trump has announced that Venezuela is rapidly releasing its political prisoners and that this process will accelerate further in the near future.
Elchi.az reports that Trump wrote about this on the “TruthSocial” social media platform.
“I am pleased to announce that Venezuela is rapidly releasing its political prisoners, and this pace will accelerate even further in the near future. I would like to thank the Venezuelan leadership for agreeing to this strong humanitarian gesture!” he wrote.
Earlier, the media, citing the Venezuelan human rights organization Foro Penal, reported that more than 100 political prisoners had been released there in recent weeks under pressure from the United States.
According to information as of Sunday, January 19, at least 104 people have been released from prison. Allegedly, they were detained for participating in the protests.
