Italy is significantly reducing the number of staff at its diplomatic mission in Tehran, with most of them returning.
Elchi.az reports that this was stated in a statement issued by the press service of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As we reported, a meeting of the crisis group of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was held yesterday under the chairmanship of the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani, and a decision was made at its conclusion. “The Minister confirmed that the interests of Italian citizens will remain a priority and instructed that the staff of the diplomatic mission, which will return to Italy in the near future, be significantly reduced,” the report said.
The meeting was attended by the Italian ambassadors to Tehran, Tel Aviv and Washington, as well as the permanent representative in Brussels.
