Innovations regarding the coverage of outpatient medications prescribed in 2026 have been announced.
Elchi.az reports that Zaur Aliyev, Chairman of the Board of the State Agency for Mandatory Health Insurance, provided information about the work done to improve primary healthcare services during a press conference on “2025 Results and Targets for the Upcoming Period.”
He stated that the primary cause of mortality risk in Azerbaijan is cardiovascular diseases:
“Therefore, at the initial stage, it is planned to cover antihypertensive drugs used in the treatment of hypertension, which is one of the main factors affecting the development of cardiovascular diseases.
At the initial stage, it is planned to provide a total of 76 medications. These drugs cover 28 active substances and will be presented in various dosages and combinations.”
