On January 27, within the framework of her working visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Chairman of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, met with the Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (ADPA), Giulio Centemero.
According to the information provided to Elchi.az from the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis, the Chairman of the Milli Majlis spoke about the importance of the 2nd session of the ADPA Women Parliamentarians Forum and noted that the Azerbaijani Parliament is interested in expanding cooperation with this organization.
It is reported that Speaker Sahiba Gafarova expressed satisfaction with the approval of the application for granting observer status to the Milli Majlis at yesterday’s ADPA Bureau meeting and expressed confidence that after the final decision is made, this status will create new opportunities for the development of mutual inter-parliamentary relations.
During the conversation, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, Giulio Centemero, noted that ADPA is also interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan. He noted that although Azerbaijan is not located in the Mediterranean region, it is a country located in an important region. This creates good opportunities for parliamentary dialogue.
The issues of cooperation between the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network (NAM PN) and ADPA were also touched upon at the meeting. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova noted that the Milli Majlis is interested in the development of international relations.
During the conversation, cooperation between the NAM PN and ADPA, and the granting of mutual observer statuses were also discussed. It was noted that the discussion of similar issues in both organizations creates good opportunities for cooperation.
During the conversation, ADPA Chairman Giulio Centemero provided information about the issues this organization deals with and its activities.
During the meeting, an exchange of views was also held on other topics of mutual interest.
