“Bloomberg”: Tankers carrying Russian oil remain at sea after India refuses supply

Tankers carrying Russian oil remain at sea after Indian oil refineries (NEZ) refused to supply.

Elchi.az reports that the Bloomberg agency reported this.

In December, Russian oil supplies to Indian ports sharply decreased to approximately 1.2 million barrels per day, which is the lowest figure in more than three years. In January, these figures decreased even more: according to statistics, in the first 25 days of the month, imports averaged 1.12 million barrels per day. This decrease occurred against the background of the European Union’s ban on the import of petroleum products made from Russian oil, which entered into force on January 21.

According to the agency, the reduction in India’s purchases has led to a sharp increase in the number of tankers waiting off the coasts of it and neighboring Oman in recent weeks. Although the number of ships waiting off the coast of Oman has gradually decreased, many of those who have already left are currently anchored near the Indian coast, while others are moving towards China. Only one ship has unloaded its cargo.

The article noted that additional pressure on Russian supplies stems from the European Union and the United Kingdom’s tightened measures against Russia’s “shadow fleet” carrying sanctioned oil.
