The publication states that Washington has not abandoned its plan to seize the island by military means, despite the concerns of some members of Congress.
“The administration is trying to launch another major military operation without prior consultation with Congress,” two sources told the agency.
According to sources, Trump has been informed that if he attempts to seize Greenland entirely through the use of military force, members of Congress may initiate a vote to remove him from office. At the same time, the article adds that sources close to the US administration claim that the military scenario in Greenland has never been seriously considered.
Earlier, Trump announced that he had discussed Greenland with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and reached an agreement with him on the future of the island. According to the head of the White House, the meeting laid the foundation for an agreement on Greenland and the entire Arctic region. Trump added that in this regard, the United States will not impose tariffs on eight European countries that oppose the annexation of the island to the United States.
