German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz has stated that he is ready to join US President Donald Trump’s Peace Council, but cannot accept the plan in its current form.
Elchi.az reports with reference to Reuters that Mertz made this statement at a joint press conference with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Rome.
“Due to the constitution, we cannot accept the current management structure of the Peace Council. However, if the goal is to find new formats that will bring peace closer in different regions of the world, we are ready to explore other new formats with the US,” he emphasized.
Mertz stated that these formats can be applied not only to the Gaza Strip and the Middle East, but also to Ukraine.
