The Moroccan army has announced that the bodies of three people who died in an avalanche on Mount Toubkal, the country’s highest peak, have been found.
Elchi.az reports that the Moroccan Armed Forces said in a written statement that on January 18, three people were trapped in an avalanche on the pass leading from Imlil in central Morocco to Mount Toubkal, and the army launched search and rescue operations in close cooperation with local authorities, the gendarmerie and civil defense.
The statement added that despite the sharp changes in weather conditions and difficult natural conditions, search teams were able to find the missing persons and recover their bodies after clearing the roads to the crash site.
The Moroccan Meteorological Service also warned that a low-pressure system that will continue until Saturday will bring heavy rain, snow and strong winds to various regions of Morocco.
