The White House announced that US President Donald Trump’s plane, which was flying to Switzerland, returned to Washington “as a precaution” due to an electrical malfunction shortly after takeoff, and that Trump would continue his trip on a new plane.
Elchi.az reports that White House spokeswoman Karoline Levitt made a statement to the press accompanying Trump on the plane to cover his trip to Davos.
Livit said that Trump’s AF1 plane returned to Joint Base Andrews Air Force Base near Washington “as a precaution” due to an electrical malfunction, and that the US President would continue his trip to Davos on a new plane.
Meanwhile, reporters on the plane said that all the lights suddenly went out briefly shortly after takeoff. One reporter quoted Livitt as saying, “It sounds better now,” referring to the Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet donated to Trump by Qatar and currently undergoing safety tests for use as a presidential plane. Traditionally, US presidents alternate between two AF1 presidential planes.
