EU freezes trade agreement with US amid Trump’s threats

The European Parliament has officially suspended the vote on the ratification of the trade agreement with the United States indefinitely.

According to Elchi.az, the DPA agency reported this with reference to the chairmen of the parliament’s trade committee.

“By threatening the territorial integrity and sovereignty of EU member states and using tariffs as a means of pressure, the US is undermining the stability and predictability of trade relations,” said Bernd Lange, chairman of the European Parliament’s trade committee.

He stressed that work on the agreement has been suspended until the US decides to restore cooperation instead of confrontation.

Earlier, European Commission (EC) Vice-President for Competition Teresa Ribera stated that in light of US claims regarding Greenland, EU countries should not renounce any measures that may be necessary to protect the interests of the community.
