Moldova has initiated the procedure for denouncing the fundamental agreements that would allow it to withdraw from the CIS.
Elchi.az reports that this was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country, Mihai Popșoi, on the air of “Radio Moldova”.
“Moldova has started the procedure for denouncing three fundamental agreements that form the basis of its membership in the Commonwealth of Independent States – the CIS Charter, the agreement on the establishment of the CIS, and the corresponding annex,” the minister said.
According to him, after the official denunciation of these agreements, the country will legally withdraw from the CIS.
“De facto, membership in the organization was suspended earlier. These documents will be sent to parliament for final approval,” Popșoi emphasized.
