The first Trans-Caspian freight train from the northern Chinese city of Tianjin has departed for Baku today.
Elchi.az reports that “Xinhua” reported this.
The train, owned by China Railway Beijing Group, will pass through Kazakhstan and then be shipped across the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan. It is loaded with stainless steel pipes, household appliances and other goods.
“The new route creates a stable and efficient transport corridor connecting Tianjin with Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and other countries in the region,” said Yan Tsyunyon, a representative of the Tianjin container center.
According to the information, the length of the route is approximately 7,000 kilometers, and the travel time is approximately 20 days, which is 10 days faster than traditional sea transportation.
Baku, the main hub of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR, Middle Corridor), will be able to send cargo from China to other countries and regions.
