The British Embassy in Tehran has been temporarily closed due to protests in Iran, and all staff have been temporarily evacuated from the country.
Elchi.az reports that a written statement from the British government spokesman’s office said: “The British Embassy in Tehran has been temporarily closed. Travel advice for this country has also been updated, including changes to consular services.”
On the other hand, the British Foreign Office’s travel advice page, which was last updated on January 9, added information about the embassy’s closure on the night of January 14.
The travel advice stated: “For security reasons, embassy staff have been temporarily evacuated from Iran. Our embassy will continue to provide services remotely.”
