Death toll rises in Philippines landslide

The death toll in the landslide at a waste management and sorting facility in Cebu City, Philippines, has risen to 13.
Elchi.az reports, citing the Philippine News Agency (PNA), that officials have released a statement regarding the landslide that occurred on January 8 at a waste storage facility in the Binaliw area of Cebu City.
Authorities reported that the death toll from the incident has reached 13, with 18 injured receiving treatment in hospitals, and search and rescue operations continuing for 23 missing persons.
Officials stated that rescue operations are being carried out in stages under extremely dangerous conditions, and teams are concerned about the risk of new landslides.
Considering the possibility that earthquakes and hurricanes in September and November 2025 caused ground movement, officials stated that initial findings indicate that the landslide occurred due to natural causes.
An investigation into the cause of the incident has not yet begun.
