A construction crane in Thailand fell on a train, causing it to derail, killing 22 people and injuring more than 30.
Elchi.az reports, citing Thai media, that a train traveling from the capital Bangkok to the northeast of the country derailed and overturned early in the morning after a construction crane fell on it.
Thai police said the accident occurred when a crane working on a high-speed rail project in the Sikhio district of Nakhon Ratchasima province, about 230 kilometers northeast of Bangkok, collapsed and fell on one of the train’s carriages.
According to initial reports, at least 22 people were killed and more than 30 injured in the accident.
Authorities have reported that the fire caused by the train derailment has been extinguished and search and rescue operations are continuing.
No official statement has been made yet regarding the number of passengers on the train.
