Turkish Week kicks off in Vienna with the photo exhibition “Turkish World on the Silk Road”

The opening ceremony of the photo exhibition “Turkish World on the Silk Road” was held at the UN Office in Vienna.

This was reported to Elchi.az’s Turkish bureau by the press service of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

The opening ceremony was addressed by Bo Mathiasen, Deputy Head and Director of Operations of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) as the host of the event, Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the OTS, Ambassador Samir Sharifov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan representing the chairmanship of the OTS, Fatou Haidara, Deputy Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and Driss El Hadani, Deputy Director of the Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) of this organization.

In his speech, K.Omuraliev emphasized that the Silk Road is a common historical and civilizational space connecting cultures, economies and societies in the Eurasian space. He noted that the initiatives currently implemented by the OTS in the fields of transport, trade facilitation and strengthening people-to-people contacts are a modern continuation of the historical heritage.

The exhibition, jointly organized by the Secretariat of the OTS and the Turkic Academy, demonstrates the cultural heritage, historical depth and geographical continuity of the Turkic World along the Silk Road routes through visual presentation.

After the opening ceremony, an official reception was organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy.

It should be noted that within the framework of the “Turkish Week”, which lasts until January 15, a high-level round table “From the Silk Road to the Middle Corridor”, the Training Program for Increasing the Diaspora Potential, which brings together representatives of Turkish diaspora organizations in Europe, and prominent Turkish artists reflecting the cultural richness and artistic diversity of the Turkish World will be held.
