The State Oil Fund’s 2026 budget is projected with a surplus

The 2026 budget of the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) is projected with a surplus.

Elchi.az reports that this was stated in the opinion of the Accounting Chamber on the SOFAZ budget for 2026.

It was noted that despite the decrease in oil production volume, the sale price of crude oil being 5.0 US dollars lower at 65 US dollars, the absence of acreage payments, the minimization of transit and bonus revenues, and the provision of appropriate increases in other revenue sources (including management revenues and a 0.2% increase in the rate of return), the 2026 budget revenues are 9.8% less than the current year’s budget (1 billion 420.1 million manats), and the Fund’s expenditures are 11.1% less, mainly due to a significant decrease in the amount of transfer to the state budget (1624.9 million manats), creating conditions for the Fund’s 2026 budget to be projected with a surplus of 17.0 million manats.
