The US-based NGO Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRA) announced that the number of deaths in the protests that started on December 28, 2025, has reached at least 544, and the number of those arrested has reached 10,681.

The US-based NGO Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRA) has issued a statement regarding the deaths caused by violent incidents during the protests. In the latest statement of the HRA (Human Rights Association), it was stated that the number of deaths in the protests has reached at least 544, and “483 of them are protesters, 47 are security personnel, 8 are children, 5 are civilians who did not participate in the protests, and one is a prosecutor working for the government.” It was also emphasized that 579 death reports are being investigated.
The statement noted that the protests spread to 585 different locations in 186 cities and 31 regions across the country, and the number of those arrested reached 10,681.
