The actual military service period for officers in peacetime has been reduced by 6 months.
Elchi.az reports that this became possible with President Ilham Aliyev’s approval of amendments to the Law “On Approval of the Regulations on Military Service” and “On Military Duty and Military Service”.
Thus, the term of actual military service in peacetime for officers called up for fixed-term actual military service from the reserve or voluntarily entering actual military service on a contract basis will be reduced by 6 months to 1 year (currently, this period is 1 year and 6 months).
At the same time, military personnel with higher education who have successfully completed the officer training course during the fixed-term actual military service and voluntarily entered the actual military service of officers will be awarded the military rank of lieutenant.
